FORGENIUS second Annual Meeting: achievements and plans for the future

The city of Avignon, in the south of France, hosted the second Annual Meeting of the FORGENIUS project, from 28 February to 3 March 2023.

The four-day summit started with a warm welcome from Ivan Scotti (INRAE), the project coordinator, who set the tone for the day by reminding everyone of the meeting's goals. These included reflecting on the project's scientific and impact-oriented achievements and discussing plans for the upcoming year. Additionally, the meeting featured FORGENIUS’ General Assembly, an essential part of ensuring the success and progress of the project.

In the course of the first two days all work package leaders presented the work done so far, milestones reached, and deliverables submitted. The General Assembly took place on the third day, and it provided an opportunity to discuss the work done, the plans for the next year, and any amendments to the Grant Agreement.

The Office national des forêts organised a field trip on the last day to give the Annual Meeting a proper close. Everyone enjoyed themselves in a bright and sunny morning while visiting a Genetic Conservation Unit near the Chartreuse de Valbonne. The next summit will be held in Florence in 2024.
